Finally... discover peace of mind within the salt caves
Vermont Salt Cave Spa & Halotherapy Center is a contemporary wellness center built around a man-made salt cave composed entirely from Polish rock salt and located in the foothills of Jay Peak in Northern Vermont.
Only 10 minutes from Jay Peak Resort and 40 minutes from St. Albans, the Vermont Salt Cave Spa offers 45 minute salt therapy sessions for total relaxation. Participants enjoy the well documented health benefits of Salt Therapy, popular in Europe since the first salt cave spa opened in Poland in 1838 but only now starting to gain popularity in the US.
The cave-like interior of our salt chamber or grotto is essentially a cave micro-climate and was created keeping it as natural as possible to ensure maximum health benefits. The halotherapy machine is imported from Poland, the home of modern salt therapy and is in fact rated as a medical machine in Poland. It takes pharmaceutical grade sodium chloride and crushes it into miniscule particles that is released in specific, controlled quantities into the air for dry salt therapy.
Northern Vermont's only state of the art Salt Cave and Halotherapy Center catering to visitors and residents in northern Vermont and the Northeast Kingdom is located in a historic barn dating back to the mid 1800's.
Located behind the Coach House, a boutique six unit apartment building, this barn was completely refurbished in the summer of 2016 to create a wellness center that we hope will become a mainstay of the Jay Peak area community and the quaint town of Montgomery Center, Vermont.
Sarita & Nafic Khan
It is owned by Sarita and Nafis Khan, a couple who have lived an entirely holistic lifestyle for most of their lives. The idea of converting the barn into a salt cave was born in April 2015 after visiting a salt cave in Chicago with her daughter Joelle. Her daughter regularly went to this salt cave to treat psoriasis. It was a fabulous experience and Sarita returned to Vermont thinking that perhaps the barn could become a salt cave. She began extensive research on the health benefits of salt therapy.
Then something happened in Sept. 2015 when someone wrote on an alternative health Facebook page she followed. This lady was desperately seeking advice for her 80 year old mother who had chronic COPD. The mother had been in and out of hospital. She was no longer responding to medication and her daughter felt she didn't have much time left. Sarita posted a suggestion to try and find a salt cave as salt caves were known as a natural treatment for lung issues.
Time passed and in February 2016 Sarita was on the same facebook forum when she read a post from a lady who said that last September she had sought advice for her 80 year old mother with COPD. Someone suggested a salt cave. She was in London England, found one and just wanted to thank whomever had suggested the salt cave. Her mother was alive, had not had to go back to the hospital and was now off all medication. Her mother goes to a salt cave 3 times a week and was doing so well.
This was the final impetus needed and the Vermont Salt Cave Spa and Halotherapy Center was born.
