More about us and our Founders

Located on the banks of the Grand River in Brantford, Ontario – GWC Body brings together modern and old world Spa treatments in an industrial heritage setting offering Massage Therapy, Salt Therapy and a Beer Spa.

Owned and operated by business partners Heidi Petersen and Jola Westerhof, GWC Body is a natural extension and expansion of GWC Spa (Grand Wellness Centre Massage Therapy Clinic and Day Spa) which has thrived in the nearby heritage district of Brant Avenue over the last 7 years.

Inspired by a visit to a Salt Cave in Niagara Falls Ontario, where they had rewarded some deserving employees with a retreat, Jola and Heidi conducted further research that revealed Salt Therapy or Halotherapy has been successfully implemented throughout Middle and Eastern Europe for nearly two centuries.

When the owners discovered the old industrial space at 202 Grand River Avenue was available to lease, and learned there had been many factories and a brewery there at one time, the idea of a beer spa was raised. Once again, they discovered this popular spa treatment flourishes in European countries especially Czechoslovakia, but is still relatively new to North America.

Both felt the time was right to introduce these healthy therapies to the Brant Brantford area. And so GWC Body was born.

Services offered at GWC Body on Grand River Avenue will include Massage Therapy, Salt Cave Therapy, Body Treatments, Beer Spa, Infrared Sauna and Foot Detox.

GWC Spa on Brant Avenue will continue to provide the quality esthetic services our clients are accustomed to including nail services, hair removal, eyelash extensions, and make-up with a few new twists and treatments using beer and salt products.

Rest assured our full menu of Registered Massage Therapy and related services will remain available at both locations.
